Ultimate Ranger Mud Build

Everyone knows that the Polaris Ranger is one of the best workhorse machines around. But that doesn™t mean they aren™t capable of some mean, mud-throwin’ fun. With an 8 GDP Portal Gear Lift installed on your Polaris Ranger 1000, you™ll gain tons of clearance and torque”perfect for 34 tires. You can choose from a 45%, 60%, and 70% gear reduction and upgrade to dual idlers to get the perfect amount of strength and power.

What is a Dual Idler®?

Perfection takes time. After years of research and development, we™ve made our dual idler gear portals unlike any other. By placing a second idler gear in the portal box, the load gets spread over twice as much surface area for more reliable torque transfer and the strongest gear set you can get. Two idler gears don™t do a thing if they™re not mated perfectly, though. Precision CNC grinding ensures ours do. Our gears are made from the industry™s toughest 9310 steel alloy. Didn™t think dual idlers mattered? With GDP™s quality and experience, they finally do.

Best in the Mud Business with 45%, 60%, and 70% Gear Reductions

Instead of driving through mud and praying you don™t get stuck, you can add our 8 GDP Portals so you™ll have room for bigger tires. Adding larger tires will allow you to cruise right over the mud instead of plowing through it. The best part of GDP is your choice of 45%, 60%, or 70% gear reduction. A big gear reduction lets you run huge tires that feel like you™re on stock, getting your torque back for a whole lot of power to get through. You get punchy acceleration that makes turning those big mud tires easy.

Protect Your Drivetrain

With portals, the gear reduction is in the hub. This alleviates stress on your drivetrain, saving you some big bucks. Your axles, differential, prop shafts, and transmission are protected with portals installed, leading to less wear and more fun riding.

Housings and Backing Plates Built Stronger

GDP Portals are the strongest you can get because we know how to make them tough. We™ve been using them and refining them for years. Whether you go with cast or USA-made, 6061 billet aluminum housings (which look awesome), you™ll get unmatched strength through superior design. Combine that with 5/16 backing plates made with an advanced steel alloy, and you™ve got the brawniest portals on the market.

Our housings are reinforced for gear retention and optimized for oil flow
Advanced steel alloy backing plates are stronger than chromoly
Enhance with Portal Blood ”gear oil formulated for GDP Portals
There are no gimmicks and no vents because vents do more harm than good”we know because we tested them

Advanced Gaskets, Seals, and Bearings

Our portals use:

Advanced gaskets and O-rings with excellent oil resistance and low deterioration rates
A sealed input gear and double-lipped output seal
100% sealing coverage throughout so you can forget about oil leaks
Double-angular contact output bearings to prevent premature wear
Roller idler and drive bearings to maintain perfect gear meshing

A Frame Stiffener Is Required

No matter what ride you™ve got, an 8 portal gear lift is a lot of extra weight to carry. That™s why a frame stiffener is required for extra support. We™d much rather be safe than risk the chance of hitting a bump hard enough to bend your stock frame. Then you™ve really done it.

Still need a little help getting exactly what you need? We™ve got a dedicated team just for portal support. Give us a call so we can get the perfect set of portals in your hands today.
